CSD Registration & Verification

Verifies that paid suppliers are active on the Central Supplier Database with valid banking and status data.

📖 6 min read🎯 Intermediate✍️ Updated 2026

Why CSD status is a payment gate

Since 2016 organs of state may only procure from suppliers registered on the Central Supplier Database, which centralises tax, banking and director verification. Paying a supplier that is not active on the CSD, or whose banking on the CSD differs from the payment account, is a direct control failure tested by the AGSA. AuditPro Core verifies that every paid supplier carries a valid, active CSD status with matching banking data.

The CSD as a single source

The CSD is government's authoritative supplier register, integrated with SARS, CIPC and the banks. Its verifications replace ad hoc checks, so an inactive CSD record removes the assurance a payment relies on.

Banking validation

The CSD validates supplier bank accounts against the banking system. A payment account that does not match the CSD-verified account is a payment-diversion red flag.

Status and restriction checks

The CSD records tax compliance status and any restrictions or blacklisting. Paying a tax-non-compliant or restricted supplier breaches SCM prescripts.

Point-in-time relevance

CSD status must be valid at the time of award and payment, not merely at registration, because tax compliance and banking can change.

How AuditPro Core Bridges the Gap

  • Reconciliation: AuditPro Core matches paid suppliers against CSD records, comparing status, tax flag and banking at transaction date.
  • Exception workflow: Inactive, restricted or banking-mismatch suppliers raise cases that hold payment.
  • Continuous monitoring: CSD status is re-checked over the supplier lifecycle, not only at onboarding.
  • Audit-ready export: CSD verification evidence exports per supplier for the audit file.

Key Takeaways

  • Procure and pay only suppliers active and verified on the CSD.
  • Match the payment account to the CSD-verified bank account every time.
  • Check tax and restriction status at award and payment, not just registration.
  • Treat banking mismatches as fraud indicators, not data errors.
