Supplier Risk
Vendor Master Data Quality
Scores the completeness and accuracy of the vendor master file.
Why Master Data Is the Foundation
Every payment, tax check and duplicate test depends on the integrity of the vendor master file; weak master data quietly corrupts every downstream control. Incomplete banking, registration or contact fields are a recurring AGSA observation and a fertile ground for fraud. AuditPro Core scores the completeness and accuracy of the master file so data weaknesses are remediated before they become control failures.

Completeness
Mandatory fields such as registration number, tax reference, banking detail and physical address must be populated for a supplier to be safely transactable. Blank fields force manual workarounds that bypass automated controls.
Accuracy and Validation
Populated is not the same as correct. Registration numbers should validate against CIPC format, bank accounts against account-verification rules, and addresses against a real location, or the record only appears complete.
Dormancy and Hygiene
Vendors that have not transacted for years inflate the file and create attack surface for reactivation fraud. Periodic deactivation of dormant records keeps the master file lean and defensible.
How AuditPro Core Bridges the Gap
- Quality scoring: each vendor record is scored on completeness and validity across mandatory fields, producing a clear remediation queue.
- Validation rules: registration, tax and banking fields are tested against format and verification standards, not merely checked for presence.
- Exception workflow: records below threshold are routed to data owners with the specific failing field identified.
- Continuous monitoring: dormant and stale records are flagged for review so the file stays clean over time.
Key Takeaways
- Master data quality determines whether every downstream control can be trusted.
- A populated field is not necessarily a correct field — validate, don't just count.
- Dormant vendors are a reactivation-fraud risk; retire them deliberately.
- Score the file continuously rather than cleaning it once before audit.
